QPR (Question Persuade Refer) Community Presentation
Hinsdale School
Wednesday, November 16 at 3:30 - Open to the community.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer, the 3 simple
steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver
help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in
QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide
crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to
help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying; "Yes", to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or
neighbor
In QPR, you are educated about the known warning signs of
a suicide crisis: expressions of hopelessness, depression,
giving away prized possessions, talking of suicide, securing
lethal means, and then taught how to respond.
Presented by Frederick Lee from Roosevelt County. After his son
Michael (age 13) committed suicide on July 27th, 2018, Frederick took
on the task of trying to start a suicide prevention program in
Northeastern MT, after learning that Montana is the number 1 worst
state for suicide in the nation. In fall of 2018 he became certified as a
QPR- Question, Persuade and Refer Instructor and has been going
around NE Montana trying to spread the word on Suicide Prevention,
because he does not want another family to have to go through what
he did.

With Fall upon us and Winter right around the corner it is time to start thinking about jackets, hats, and mittens. Our students do go outside multiple times per day to exercise and get fresh air. Please be sure your kiddos come to school ready and prepared to be outside. As temperatures get even colder we will need to start thinking about boots and snow pants.
If any family is struggling to provide cold weather clothing for their kiddo or if you have gently used items to donate please contact Mr. Zopp at 406-364-2314.
It takes a village,
Mr. Zopp
Independence Bank Donates to Elementary
Representatives from Independence Bank stopped by the Hinsdale Public Schools on September 15th to drop off a donation of $400. The money comes from a program Independence Bank sponsors to support local schools. Any customer of Independence Bank can designate a school of their choice to receive a donation. Every time that customer uses their debit card the bank makes a five cent donation to the school on behalf of that customer. At the end of the year the money is added up and donated to the school. The $400 Hinsdale received will go toward books for our elementary students in both their classrooms and in the school library.
Hinsdale would like to thank Independence Bank for their willingness to give back to local schools. We would also like to thank all the patrons that send their donations to our school district. Five cents may not seem like a lot but at the end of the day it will be about 40 new books for our students and that is pretty great.
Pictured below from left to right are Superintendent Adam Zopp, bank representatives Jace Anderson and Jesse Lacock.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on September 20th from 4 pm - 7 pm.
**When you arrive please stop at the front office to pick up your students midterm report card and sign in.
